Mozilla is committed to ensuring that the Internet, as a global public resource, remains open and freely accessible to all. Since 2009, pioneer communications has been responsible for the product and brand communication of Mozilla in the German-speaking countries. This includes continuous PR activities on education and network policy issues, which Mozilla is committed to.

Mission

Firefox is the open source browser of a non-profit organization – that means surfing without ulterior motives. In 2004, Mozilla revolutionized the web with Firefox and has since built a better Internet where individuals can shape their own online experiences safely and independently. We helped publicise Mozilla’s approach in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, positioning the company as a credible partner on topics including privacy, security, openness of the web, and digital participation, which in turn boosted awareness of Mozilla’s products.

Realisation

Since 2009, pioneer communications has supported Mozilla with its communication activities in German-speaking countries, which included product communication, issues management, strategic consulting and social media support.. We regularly updated consumer, lifestyle and tech media about the latest technologies and projects Firefox was working on and involved in. Using interviews, background discussions and statements, we placed Mozilla spokespersons within current debates and helped clarify technical details for industry publications. We presented key industry topics clearly and comprehensibly in technical articles, graphics and/or blog posts. Our comprehensive mix of online communications activities was supplemented by events and out-of-home campaigns.

Evaluation

In accordance with Mozilla’s annually defined business and PR objectives, we developed both one-off initiatives and long-term campaigns, the results of which we evaluated in collaboration with other European agencies. In addition, we evaluated the effectiveness of our activities on a regular basis and prepared monthly reports for the client.
